Blocked drains are one of the most common — and most disruptive — plumbing problems Brisbane homeowners face. Tree roots breaking into clay sewer lines, fats and grease building up in kitchen waste pipes, wipes and foreign objects in the toilet, storm debris in down-pipes after heavy rain: every Brisbane suburb has its own pattern, and every home eventually meets one of them. When that happens, the choice of plumber matters. A drain cleared properly, with a CCTV inspection and a documented diagnosis, is a drain that stays clear. A drain cleared in a hurry by someone who doesn't own the right equipment is a problem you'll see again in six months.
This is a review of ten Brisbane plumbing businesses that explicitly specialise in blocked drains. The list is intended as a starting point for homeowners and property managers comparing options — not a competitive ranking on price, speed, or quality, none of which we are in a position to measure independently.
How we put this list together
Every business named in this article has been verified as currently trading, Brisbane-servicing, and explicitly advertising blocked-drain or drain-clearing services on its own website. Every quoted phrase, claim, and detail in each entry below is drawn directly from that business's own marketing copy — their homepage, their about page, or their service pages — at the time of writing. Where a business states a QBCC licence number, we list it as published; we recommend that any homeowner about to engage a plumber confirm the licence number against the QBCC public register at onlineservices.qbcc.qld.gov.au before work begins.
We have not commissioned independent quality testing, mystery-shopper pricing comparisons, or customer-experience audits. Where each business makes a claim about itself — "fixed pricing," "10+ years experience," "no call-out fee," "same-day service" — we have presented that claim in their own words and left it to the reader to verify against their own quote and contract. Inclusion in this list is not an endorsement of any particular business over another.
The list is presented in numbered order for readability. Treat it as ten options worth a phone call, not a podium.

What to look for when choosing a blocked-drain plumber
Reading across the ten businesses above, a few recurring signals stand out as worth asking about when you ring around for quotes:
- A QBCC licence number, published and visible. In Queensland, drainage work above $3,300 must be performed by a licensed contractor. Eight of the ten businesses above publish their licence number on their site; we recommend confirming the number against the QBCC public register before signing a quote.
- A documented diagnostic step before excavation. CCTV drain inspection lets the plumber see what they're dealing with — a blockage, a partial collapse, root intrusion — before recommending a repair. Avoid plumbers who jump straight to digging without a camera-confirmed reason.
- Fixed or upfront pricing in writing. Several businesses above market themselves on fixed-upfront-pricing; ask for that in writing on the quote, with the inclusions and exclusions named (after-hours surcharge, CCTV cost, mileage, return-visit policy).
- Workmanship guarantee, in writing. "Lifetime workmanship guarantee" appears in two of the ten businesses' marketing. Ask exactly what is covered, for how long, and what voids it.
- Equipment they actually own. High-pressure water jetting, CCTV cameras, robotic pipe cutters, pipe relining gear: businesses that own their own equipment can respond faster on complex jobs than those who sub-contract. Several of the ten above explicitly mention this; it's worth asking.
- The right insurance. SEQ Blocked Drains advertise $20M in liability cover; smaller operators may carry less. Worth checking, particularly for commercial premises.
Blocked drains are a routine plumbing problem with a wide range of price tags depending on whether the underlying cause is debris, fat, roots, or pipe damage. The plumber best for your job is rarely the absolute cheapest; it is the one who diagnoses correctly the first time, fixes what's actually broken, and gives you written confirmation of both the diagnosis and the repair.
